As of this morning our wells in the watershed have still not shut
off and rested. Our reservoir has still not filled to allow them
to do so. Our wells have only 7.2 hours of rest in the last 528
hours. I have increased our flow from the WTP but it is proving
difficult to fill both reservoirs at the same time.

down below the 22’ mark with a level of 21.71’. This is happening

Joe,
Here are the #s for today. The first set is from this morning and
the 2nd set is from about 1:45 this afternoon. As you will notice,
all of the available wells in the joint well field are operational
and have been for the past 24 hours. We are pumping wells #8 and
#10 in our watershed in addition to the 3 springs. Even with all
of these sources contributing, our reservoir in the watershed
continues to fall. Because our reservoir has gone into the 22’
range I will be coming back in tonight to check on it. Jim

Joe,
The watershed reservoir is at 27.00 ft. this morning. The
reservoir has still not filled and let the wells rest. Because the
reservoir is at a more adequate level, I turned Well #1
(watershed) off in the event that we need it down the road. I did
reduce our flow from the Laf/Day WTP yesterday in an attempt to
bring up the joint reservoir. As of this morning the joint
reservoir was at 13.7 ft. Well #4 has created some problems for
the WTP. Having not run for quite some time, the water is quite
dirty and is forcing the WTP to backwash far more than normal. The
result – more time backwashing…less time putting water into the
reservoir. I will give you a new report on Monday morning. Jim

Our situation is improving, however, our wells in the watershed
still have not rested. I will be working close with Kris (Dayton)
this weekend to see that both cities are improving.

I will be checking into why wells 4 and 5 are not running.
In the meantime it is my recommendation that we continue with the
level 1 curtailment. I am halting the watering of all city parks
and property with the exception of Perkins Park. The PW staff will
continue to monitor compliance of the odd/even watering. If you

Lafayette discharge at WTP 160 gpm
Well # 4 is operational and is pumping 100 gpm.
I am going to be keeping a very close eye on the Reservoir levels
as we dropped into the 17 ft range today. I will have a
recommendation for you tomorrow morning based on new readings.

These are the current numbers as of 7:30 am 7/29/10.
Lafayette Reservoir is at 18.04 ft. Last night at 10:30 the level
was at 17.99/18.00 ft.
Dayton/Lafayette Reservoir is at 13.4 ft.
Lafayette watershed is producing 225 gpm.
Well # 2 is producing 30.6 gpm
Well # 3 is producing 79.5 gpm
Well #5 is producing 70 gpm
Water Treatment Plant Discharge
Lafayette 80 gpm
Dayton 305 gpm
If anyone is interested in seeing these numbers for themselves,
please contact me and I will arrange it. I will do my best to send
out another email at the end of my work day.
Well # 4 is nearly ready to put back on line. There is a problem
with the level transducer and we are working on getting a
replacement for it.

As of my conversation this morning with Steve in Dayton, the City
of Dayton did enact their water restriction ordinance. I’m not
exactly sure what that entails, but it is in effect.

hot weather, this has not proven to be adequate to keep up with
the demand that has occurred over the last few weeks, and the
reservoir has fallen to a level that requires action by the City.

declare that water usage must be curtailed. The restrictions that
are going into effect JULY 27, 2010 are listed below.
I am asking you to make every effort to comply
with these restrictions and conserve water in any other way you
can.

Just an update where we are at this morning. Lafayette’s reservoir
dropped from 24’ yesterday to 21.5’ this morning. We are
officially below the fire flow mark. I will be posting this at the
fire station. The reservoir in Dayton is at 14.5’ as of this
morning. Dayton’s other reservoir is empty. They have been below
fire flows since Sat. Jim

Re: Current water situation
Mayor and Council, This is a
break down of our current water situation as of 8:00 am this
morning.
Lafayette's reservoir is at 24' and holding. This is 2' above
alarm for being below fire flow.
Wells #8 and #10 have only had 10
hours of rest in the last 288 hours.
Well #1 has been placed into the
rotation. This well produces less than 10 gpm.
Construction at Well #4 is not
complete so it is still not available.
The 1.5 million gallon reservoir in
Dayton is at 13.7' . This is well below fire flow capacity for
both cities. This means we have a little less than 375,000 gallons
available to us. I have
reduced our effluent rate from the water treatment plant in Dayton
to
about 65 gpm in an effort to gain in the reservoir.
From July lst to today, Lafayette has
received 1,318,100 gallon more than its 1.5 wells have produced.
In my opinion the lack of monitored
odd/even watering has attributed to this
situation. As always I am
monitoring our status and keeping in close contact with Steve
Sagmiller in Dayton. If you
